Alexandra Sheldon’s Painterly Abstract Collage Workshop
May 14 - 17, 2025
Skill Level: Beginner through Advanced
Materials used: Acrylic, gouache, found papers
Location: Berkshire South Community Center, 15 Crissey Road, Great Barrington, MA
Explore composition, color, texture, light, movement and narrative, while making collages from scratch. We will make our own materials by mixing colors and painting papers as well as utilizing printmaking techniques such as trace monotypes. In addition, the class will look at noted artists to understand their methodology, discuss their processes, and explore contrasting approaches to creating strong compositions.
Each session will begin with an artist’s talk and demonstration.
This class is for all levels of students intrigued by mixed media/collage and will be a supportive space for us to all relax, create, and have fun. With a minimum of 8 students and maximum of 12 there will be time for individual attention. Sign up early! Early bird sign up by Feb 1 for 10% off. See Guild refund guidelines.
Class will be from 1-6pm on Wednesday, May 14; Thursday and Friday, May 16 & 17 from 9-4:30 and 8-11 on Saturday, May 18. This will leave time for exploring all that the Berkshires has to offer. This workshop was a great success last year and the group gathered for dinners out.
